There is a need to optimize and streamline maternity care services to reduce disruptions in care to low– and high-risk deliveries that occur in Kamloops. The need continues due to decreasing capacity within each maternity care provider group as a result of provider shortages. The project seeks to ensure provider autonomy is preserved and scopes of practices are respected while ensuring all pregnant individuals receive timely maternity care.

Key Deliverables:
- Explore the development and implementation of collaborative clinics
- Explore the development and implementation of call coverage models
- Enhance culture and teamwork
- Support knowledge translation between maternity care providers in the BC Interior Region
- Map services to inform service optimization and streamlining

Key Outcomes:
- Improvements in physician and other health provider coordination, flow of care and communication
- Improved patient transitions between provider and care environments
- Improvements in access to specialist consultations
- Improve timeliness of patient access to physician care
